What Is Invisalign?
Straightening your teeth using Invisalign is an effective method. Instead of metal braces that have brackets and wires, this process uses a system of removable aligners to help move your teeth. One of the biggest benefits of this approach is that the aligners are clear. Since they're transparent, it won't be obvious that you're wearing them. This system is popular with adults who don't wish to wear metal braces. However, it can also be an excellent alternative for teenagers.
How Does Invisalign Work?
Invisalign works by using a series of removable aligners to straighten your teeth. The number of times you change your aligners will depend on how much your teeth need to move. However, each set of aligners is typically worn for two weeks.
Each aligner will move your teeth slightly. You will then move on to the next aligner which will shift the teeth even more. This process of changing aligners will continue until your teeth have moved into their final position.
Typically, most people finish their treatment within 9-15 months. Your treatment time will depend on the amount of work needed to straighten your teeth.
Benefits of Invisalign
There are many benefits to this approach. Misaligned teeth can lead to oral health problems. In addition, they can affect the appearance of your smile. Invisalign will correct both of these issues. All aligners are created using 3D imaging, which gives you the best smile possible.
The biggest advantage to this approach is that it is not as obvious as metal braces. Furthermore, the aligners can be removed, so there are no restrictions on what you can eat. For this reason, Invisalign makes oral care much simpler.
We recognize that you are busy. With this procedure, you do not have to visit the office for adjustments like you would with braces. Instead, patients usually have check-in appointments every six weeks.
The West Boca Dentalcare Invisalign Process
You can count on us to be with you every step of the way, from your first appointment to your last. Here's what to expect:
Invisalign Consultation at Our Boca Raton Dental Office
If you are interested in learning more, we will schedule a consultation. The doctor will examine your teeth at this appointment and determine whether Invisalign is a good option for you.
Impressions and 3D Imaging
To get started, we will need to take an impression of your teeth. This impression, along with 3D imaging technology, will be used to build your aligners. You'll also be able to see what your smile will look like each step of the way, as well as what it will look like at the end of the process.
Attachments and Aligners
In some cases, attachments may need to be placed on your teeth. Attachments are tiny dots of composite material. They will be bonded to your teeth so that the aligners can move your teeth into the proper position.
Typically, patients go through 18 to 30 aligners before their teeth are in their final position. Aligners are usually worn for two weeks at a time. It is imperative that you wear them as often as possible. Failure to do so will prolong the process.
Enjoy Your Smile
The average person does this treatment over the course of a year. However, the time may vary from person to person. Once your teeth have shifted into the correct position, we will remove the attachments. Finally, we'll provide you with a retainer so your teeth won't shift from their new positions.
